Zavesca is a medicine to treat Gaucher disease of type 1 (mild to moderate) when enzyme replacement therapy cannot be used.
It refers to glucosylceramide synthase inhibitors. It blocks the enzyme,thus decreasing body chemicals production, including glucosylceramide-based glycosphingolipids. This relieves some problems with spleen, liver, some other organs, and blood due to Gaucher disease of type 1.
