Zantac is a medicine to treat certain conditions, causing excessive secretion of stomach acid, including Zollinger-Ellison syndrome. It is also used to treat small intestinal ulcers when other medicines do not help. It is also used as alternative/oral ranitidine (short-term) when the medicine cannot be taken by mouth. It may also be used by your physician to treat certain other conditions.
It refers to H2-receptor blockers. The medicine blocks histamine action in the stomach. This helps to decrease the acid amount in the stomach. This helps in heartburn reduction, stomach/intestinal ulcers healing and esophagus irritation healing.
