YAZ is used to prevent pregnancy. It may also be used for the treatment of premenstrual dysphoric disorder (PMDD) or certain acne types in women using it for birth control. It may also be used by your physician to treat certain other conditions.
It refers to a combination of estrogen and progesterone hormones. It changes the uterus lining, thickens the cervical mucus, and prevents ovulation.
