Thalidomide

Thalidomide is used for skin inflammation treatment in patients with moderate to severe leprosy (erythema nodosum leprosum, ENL) and for prevention of its reoccurence. It is used in combination with other medicines if the patient also has moderate to severe inflammation of nerves, associated with ENL. It is also used together with dexamethasone in order to treat patients with cancer, including multiple myeloma.

It refers to immunomodulatory agents. It causes the immune system to reduce some substances causing inflammation of skin in ENL patients. It increases natural substances, helping to kill cancer cells in patients with cancer.
