Repaglinide

Brand name: Prandin

Repaglinide is used to treat (non-insulin-dependent) type 2 diabetes. It is combined with exercise and diet to decrease blood sugar in adult patients when it cannot be treated with diabetic medications, diet, or exercise alone. It may be used in combination with other diabetes medicines.

It refers to meglitinide antidiabetics.   It works by increasing the release of insulin from pancreas, thus, lowering the blood sugar. The medicine cannot help for insulin-dependent (type 1) diabetes, as pancreas gland cannot make/release insulin.
