Quinapril is used to manage heart failure and decrease high blood pressure. It may be used alone or combined with other medicines.
The medicine refers to angiotensin-converting enzyme inhibitors (ACE inhibitors). ACE manages chemical reactions, causing the narrowing of blood vessels and storage of sodium and fluids in the kidneys. This may be the cause of increased blood pressure. ACE inhibitors decrease high blood pressure by altering ACE and help blood vessels relax. This causes blood to flow more freely and decreases pressure. ACE inhibitors increase the ability of the heart to pump blood in different heart failure types.
