Penicillamine is a medicine to treat rheumatoid arthritis (severe form, when other medicines do not help), excess urine amino acids, causing stones in kidneys (cystinuria), or excess body copper (Wilson disease). It may also be used by your physician to treat certain other conditions.
It refers to chelating agents. It decreases disease development in rheumatoid arthritis patients, eliminates excess copper in Wilson disease patients, and decreases excess cystine in cystinuria patients.
