Pantoprazole may be used to treat patients (short-term, up to7-10 days) with gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD) having the history of esophagus irritation. It is also used to treat certain conditions, causing excessive secretion of stomach acid, including Zollinger-Ellison syndrome. It may also be used by your physician to treat certain other conditions.
It refers to proton pump inhibitors. It works by decreasing the acid production in the stomach.
