Orfadin is a medicine to treat a genetic metabolism disorder (type 1 hereditary tyrosinemia, HT-1). This medicine may be combined with proper diet (phenylalanine and tyrosine restriction).
It refers to 4-hydroxyphenylpyruvate dioxygenase inhibitors. The medicine blocks tyrosine breakdown. This promotes the decrease of toxic byproducts body amount produced by the tyrosine breakdown.
