Leuprolide is a medicine to treat secondary sexual characteristic premature development, including genital development of boys or development of breasts in girls. It is used in girls under 8 years of age and in boys under 9 years of age. It may also be used by your physician to treat certain other conditions.
It refers to gonadotropin-releasing hormone agonists. It inhibits the secretion of gonadotropin, thus inhibiting the production of ovarian/testicular steroid.
