Lasix

Generic name: Furosemide

Lasix is a medicine to treat high blood pressure or swelling (water retention) caused by liver/kidney disease or congestive heart failure. It may also be used by your physician to treat certain other conditions.

It refers to loop diuretics. Loop diuretics promote the elimination of excess electrolytes (potassium/sodium salts) and water by kidneys. They have a diuretic effect. It may treat certain conditions associated with salt/water retention, including swelling and edema.
