Gemfibrozil lowers triglyceride and high blood cholesterol.
It refers to antihyperlipidemics. It reduces the production LDL cholesterol (low-density lipoprotein, “bad”) and of triglycerides blood levels in the liver. It is also used to increase good cholesterol levels (called HDL or high-density lipoprotein).
