Famciclovir is a medicine to treat herpes zoster infection (or shingles). The medicine is also used to treat recurring infections of skin herpes in HIV patients. It is used in patients with weakened immune system to treat recurring cold sores and for the treatment or suppression of recurring genital herpes. It may also be used by your physician to treat certain other conditions.
It refers to antivirals. The medicine blocks the viral reproduction.
