Elixophyllin is a medicine to prevent and treat airway blockage and symptoms associated with lung diseases including asthma, bronchitis, or emphysema. It may also be used by your physician to treat certain other conditions.
It refers to xanthine derivatives. It relaxes smooth muscles around the air passages (bronchial tubes), thus widening the tubes and making easier breathing. It improves the diaphragm contraction (the main breathing muscle).
