Captopril is a medicine to treat high blood pressure. It may also be used by your physician to treat certain other conditions.
The medicine refers to the combination of thiazide diuretic and angiotensin-converting enzyme inhibitor (ACE inhibitor). It reduces a chemical, narrowing blood vessels, and promotes elimination of excess fluid by kidneys. This relaxes (dilates) blood vessels and reduces excess fluid, thus decreasing high blood pressure.
