Colrex Compound is used to treat symptoms of flu, common cold, or hay fever, and certain upper respiratory allergies, including watery or itchy eyes, runny nose, sneezing, nose and throat itching, cough. It may also be used by your physician to treat certain other conditions.
The medicine refers to a combination of narcotic antitussives (or cough suppressants) antihistamines, analgesics and decongestants. The antitussive suppresses the brain cough center. The analgesic makes the brain to decrease pain and fever. The antihistamine blocks histamine effects, thus reducing allergy symptoms including runny nose, itchy or watery eyes. It may also shrink swollen nasal passages, thus, relieving nasal congestion.
