Argatroban is used for hemodilution (blood thinning) to treat or prevent blood clots in thrombocytopenia patients (having low levels of platelets) caused by the use of heparin, or in patients having percutaneous coronary intervention [PCI] and being at risk or having low platelet levels associated with the use of heparin. It may also be used by your physician to treat certain other conditions.
It refers to thrombin inhibitors. The medicine blocks the thrombin action, stopping the formation of blood clots.
