Anakinra is used to treat active rheumatoid arthritis (moderate to severe). It is used in patients older 18 years of age when other medicines do not help. It may be used alone or combined with certain other medicines. It may also be used by your physician to treat certain other conditions.
It refers to interleukin-1 blockers (IL-1). It stops the interleukin-1 activity by binding to IL-1 receptor, thus reducing inflammation and other arthritis symptoms and signs.
