Alprostadil is used to treat problems with erection in men. It may be used to diagnose ES (erectile dysfunction).
It refers to prostaglandin analogs (PGE-1). It widens blood vessels and relaxes certain penis muscles, helping with erection and increasing penis blood flow. After the alprostadil action wears off, the erection stops, and penis blood flow normalizes.
