Aldactone is used to treat patients with fluid retention and swelling having kidney problems, including nephrotic syndrome, cirrhosis, or congestive heart failure. It may be used to treat high blood pressure. It is also used to prevent or treat low potassium in blood. It is also used to treat aldosterone overproduction by the adrenal gland.
It refers to potassium-sparing diuretics. It blocks aldosterone, thus helping the kidney to eliminate water, keeping potassium, and decreasing blood pressure.
