Aldactazide

Generic name: hydrochlorothiazide / spironolactone

Aldactazide is used to treat patients with swelling having liver cirrhosis, certain kidney problems, including nephrotic syndrome, or congestive heart failure. It is also used when other medicines do not help or cannot be taken. It may be used for high blood pressure treatment when other medicines do not help or cannot be taken.

This medicine refers to water pills (diuretics). It is a combination of a hydrochlorothiazide (thiazide diuretic) and spironolactone (a potassium-sparing diuretic). It helps kidneys eliminate water and salt (sodium) from the body, thus decreasing blood pressure. Spironolactone enables to minimize the loss of potassium.
