Types of heart disorders are classified by the heart part that is affected.
Heart chambers diseases
The human heart represents a 4 chambered organ. If the functions of any chamber get affected, the blood pump ability of the heart is decreased. Heart chambers diseases include heart failure or pulmonary heart disorder when the ventricle are enlarged. In heart failure, your heart is either unable to gain the required amount of blood from your lungs or fails to force out the oxygenated blood to the body or both.
Arteries and veins disorders
These are called cardiovascular diseases. They are resulted from the blood vessels’ thickening because of the deposition of plaque impairing the blood supply to the heart. As we grow, fats are deposited on the blood vessels’ walls. The fatty substances can produce some chemicals which make the blood vessels’ walls sticky. This attracts inflammatory cells and proteins traveling in the blood stream. These substances form a plaque which thickens the blood vessels’ walls. This disorder is called artherosclerosis. Insufficient blood supply for the heart can lead to pain in the chest and even a heart attack. Coronary heart disorder is related to astherosclerosis of coronary arteries which supply blood rich in oxygen to the heart.
Heart muscles disease
Cardiomyopathy represents a progressive heart muscles disorder. The heart muscles (myocardium) get thickened which impedes the heart capability to pump blood. It results in irregular heartbeat, fatigue and pains in the chest. Hypertrophic cardiomyopathy is attributed to muscle walls thickening particularly of the septum found between the ventricles.
Myocarditis is also a heart muscles disorder causing inflammation in the heart muscles resulted from a viral infection.
Valve diseases
Four valves control the blood flow in the heart chambers. In case the valves suffer from some disorder, they become stiff and prevent normal blood transfer. Thus the blood accumulating behind the valve starts pressing against it. And it causes congestive heart failure (angina).
Electrical system disorder
This is arrhythmias. If electric impulses are not actually received by the heart in a proper way, the heart can start beating too fast (tachycardia), or sometimes too slow (bradycardia).
Lining disease
The inner heart lining is endocardium and pericardium represents large membranous bag enclosing the heart. Endocartitis is endocardium inflammation. The valves are commonly affected in this disorder. Pericarditis is an inflammation of the pericardium.
Congenital Heart Diseases
Some people have congenital heart disorders. They affect any heart part: valves, blood vessels and heart muscles. These diseases include tricuspid atresia, pulmonic stenosis, coarctation and other.
