Skin cancer is characterized by a malignant skin growth.

The sun is the common cause of skin cancer. To put it more precisely it is not the sun itself but the excessive exposure to UV rays of the sun beams. It is extremely harmful to be exposed to the direct sunlight from 10am till 4pm.

Exposure to x-rays in large amounts is also a cause of skin cancer. X-rays are radioactive and can cause radiation which negatively affects the skin.

Contact with certain mineral types like hydrocarbons in soot, oils and tar can lead to the fornm of skin cancer called squamous cell carcinoma.

Exposure to such chemicals as arsenic can provoke the malady as well. People of particular occupations such as miners, farmers, sheep shearers have a very high rate of exposure to arsenic.

Skin cancer can also be caused by tanning booths. Many individuals are ignorant of the negative effects it can cause. Children are also exposed to this risk by using the beauty treatment.

Immunosuppression means the immune system suppression. Immune system helps our bodies to protect from dangerous foreign things such as germs and different substances causing allergy. The immune system is suppressed due to such diseases as HIV. Immunosuppression can be caused by drugs to combat autoimmune diseases and to prevent the organ transplant rejection. The organism becomes  weak and not able to fight an infection.

Beloved by many people sun-beds can result in the most dreadful cancer form called malignant melanoma.

Skin cancer can be evolved by chronic sores and wounds like burns that do not heal for a very long time.

Humans with white skin are more prone to the cancer of skin than the Afro-Americans or individuals with darker skin. The thing is that the Afro-Americans have high melanin levels in the skin and that protects them from the sun rays.

Albinos are deficient in melanin and that is the main reason for their being more predisposed to skin cancer.

As the primary cause of the cancer of skin is the harmful effect of the sunlight, therefore it is important to reduce the exposure to the UV rays of the sun.
