What Causes Low Blood Pressure

Millions of people have problems with low blood pressure. Unlike hypertension low BP shows different symptoms. It is of crucial importance to manage them as in some situations a sudden fall in blood pressure can cause a really great damage.

To reveal that a person has low blood pressure first it is necessary to understand the reasons. Dehydration is a classic cause of low blood pressure.

When we use all the water reserves in the organism this leads to dehydration. The body lacks vitally important fluid, the blood levels also fall provoking hypotension.

Dehydration is not the only reason for low BP though it is the most widely spread. Particularly it concerns the cases when dehydration is the result of diarrhea, vomiting, or the diuretics use (drugs eliminating much water via urination).

Dehydration can also be evolved by excessive sweating, heat exhaustion or a stroke. If you don’t drink water to normalize water levels in the body the situation gets worse. In case of a mild dehydration you may have two typical symptoms: thirst and dryness in the mouth. This is a signal to prevent a mild/ serious dehydration that can provoke orthostatic hypotension, and sometimes can result even in death.

The drugs causing dehydration as were already mentioned above are water pills (Lasix).  They evolve a great fall in the blood volume. It is of crucial importance to maintain the necessary water amounts by consuming about 8 glasses a day not counting soft drinks, coffee or alcohol.
