Synthroid

Levothyroxine is a medicine of thyroid hormone replacement, which regulates metabolism and energy in the body.

Synthroid is used when the body does not have enough thyroid hormone.

The medicine treats hypothyroidism. It may also prevent/treat goiter due to hormonal imbalance, cancer, surgery, radiation treatment.

Do not use it in case of weight problems, or overweight.

Your physician may use the medicine to treat certain other conditions not listed here.

It is a natural body hormone and almost everyone may use it. Avoid it in case you have a history of heart attack, thyrotoxicosis, adrenal gland problem, which is not controlled with the help of treatment.

Notify the physician in case you have coronary artery disease, heart disease, diabetes, anemia, blood clots history, problems with adrenal/pituitary glands.

In case of oral taking of diabetes medicines/insulin you may need a doze adjustment.

Use it according the physician’s prescription.

It may need some weeks to become effective. You should not stop taking it suddenly. It may also interact with certain medicines. Notify the doctor on any prescriptions you have, including herbal products, minerals, vitamins and drugs.
