Norvasc refers to calcium channel blockers. This relaxes (dilates) blood vessels, thus, decreasing the heart workload and lowering high blood pressure.
Norvasc is a medicine to treat hypertension (high blood pressure) and chest pain (angina).
Your physician may use the medicine to treat certain other conditions not listed here.
Notify the doctor if you have liver/heart diseases.
Do not drink alcohol. It lowers blood pressure and may be the cause of side effects.
Do not stop taking it in case of improved health. You may need to take blood pressure medicines constantly.
The medicine may be combined with exercise, diet, weight control. Do exercises, have a diet and take the medicine regularly.
Notify the physician on using other medicines for heart/blood pressure.
When starting taking the medicine for the first time chest pain may be increased. Consult the physician in case of severe/ongoing chest pain.
