Lopressor

Lopressor is a medicine to treat high blood pressure. In is used alone or combined with certain other medicines.

It is also effective for long-term chest pain treatment; and lowering the risk of death due to heart problems in patients with the history a heart attack. It may also be used by your physician to treat certain other conditions.

It refers to beta-adrenergic blocking agents (called beta blockers). It reduces the heart load, thus relieving the pain in chest, decreases the blood amount that the heart pumps out, thus decreasing blood pressure. It also stabilizes the rhythm of the heart.

Many people have no side effects or minor ones. Consult the physician if any of side effects are bothersome or persist: diarrhea, constipation, dry eyes/mouth, dizziness, gases, heartburn, headache, lightheadedness, muscle aches, mild drowsiness, pain, nausea, swelling, redness at the injection site, trouble sleeping, stomach pain, vomiting, unusual weakness/tiredness.

You should not stop taking it suddenly. It may cause heart problems. You should gradually reduce your dose. Do this even if you are treated for high blood pressure. Notify the physician in case of emergency care, surgery, or dental care.
