Glucophage is a medicine to control sugar levels in blood. It is used in patients having type II diabetes.
It may be combined with insulin medications. It does not treat type I diabetes.
Your physician may use the medicine to treat certain other conditions not listed here.
Notify the doctor if you have diabetic ketoacidosis, heart, liver or kidney disease.
The medicine may cause a serious lactic acidosis. Get medical help in case of lactic acidosis symptoms like increased sleepiness, weakness, slow heart rate, feeling cold, breath shortness, stomach pain, fainting, light-headedness, and muscle pain.
You may need to stop using the medicine prior to having CT or x-ray (temporarily). Notify the physician of using it beforehand.
Low blood sugar symptoms include headache, hunger, irritability, confusion, drowsiness, dizziness, weakness, fainting, sweating, tremors, fast heartbeat, convulsions, or coma. You should have a source of sugar for these symptoms.
Get medical help in case of lactic acidosis symptoms like increased sleepiness, weakness, slow heart rate, feeling cold, breath shortness, stomach pain, fainting, light-headedness, and muscle pain.
