Bactrim

Bactrim (sulfamethoxazole, trimethoprim) is antibacterial antibiotic.

Their combination is effective for Pneumocystis carinii pneumonia, traveler’s diarrhea, ear infections, bronchitis, urinary tract infections.

The medicine may treat certain other conditions not listed here.

Avoid the medicine in case of folic acid deficiency anemia, while pregnancy/breast feeding, allergy to sulfamethoxazole/trimethoprimor.

It is not effective against flu or cold.

Avoid sunlamps and sunlight. It may cause sunburn. Contact the physician in case of serious side effects, including sore throat, fever, cough, nausea, headache, red skin rash, itching, easy bleeding/bruising, short breath, diarrhea, restlessness, irritability, hallucinations, confusion, seizure, irregular heart rate, severe numbness, muscle pain/weakness, stomach pain, appetite loss, clay-colored stools, dark urine, jaundice, cold symptoms, decreased urination.

You may also experience less serious side effects like swollen/painful tongue, spinning sensation, dizziness, ear ringing, joint pain, insomnia.
