Arimidex is a medicine to treat postmenopausal women with breast cancer. It is used when tamoxifen does not work. Arimidex decreases levels of estrogen in postmenopausal female patients, slowing the breast tumors growth.

Avoid taking it while pregnancy and breast feeding. Notify the doctor in case of having heart problems, liver disease or if you have menstrual periods.
You may prolong your treatment for 5 years. It may be affected by the use of tamoxifen. Also consult your physician in case of allergy signs, including breathing difficulty, hives, face swelling.Contact the physician in case of serious side effects, including weakness, headache (sudden), confusion, balance/speech/vision problems, swollen glands, hands/feet swelling, bone fracture. You may also experience less serious side effects like weakness, hot flashes, joint pain/stiffness, sore throat, nausea, mood changes, depression, back/bone pain.
