Aldactone refers to potassium-sparing diuretic.
It helps treat/diagnose conditions of excess aldosterone in the body. It may treat fluid retention. It is also used to prevent or treat low potassium in blood.
Your physician may use the medicine to treat certain other conditions not listed here.
Avoid other diuretics while taking Aldactone.
Notify the doctor in case of liver disease or if you take other medicines.
Do not drink alcohol while using this medicine.
Avoid high salt diet, salt substitutes and potassium products. They may increase your potassium in blood and retain fluid.
Avoid being dehydrated or overheated.
Also consult your physician in case of allergy signs, including breathing difficulty, hives, face swelling. Contact the physician in case of serious side effects, including weakness, muscle pain, numbness, irregular heartbeat, drowsiness, restlessness, tremors, shallow breathing, nausea, confusion, stomach pain, fever, appetite loss, clay-colored stools, dark urine, jaundice.
You may also experience less serious side effects like vomiting, nausea (mild), headache, skin rash, stomach pain, gases, dizziness.
