Doxycycline refers to tetracycline antibiotics. It treats various bacterial infections, including chlamydia, gonorrhea, acne, periodontitis, and urinary tract infections.
It is effective for acne-like lesions, bumps, blemishes associated with rosacea.
Your physician may use the medicine to treat certain other conditions not listed here.
It should be avoided while pregnancy or breast-feeding. Avoid the medicine in case of allergy to doxycycline. Notify the doctor if you have liver/kidney diseases. It should not be used in children under 8. Also consult your physician in case of allergy signs, including breathing difficulty, hives, face swelling. Contact the physician in case of serious side effects, including weakness, blurred vision, headache, fever, dizziness, fast heart rate, body aches, red skin rash, yellowed or pale skin, dark urine, weakness, confusion, stomach pain, nausea/vomiting, appetite loss, jaundice, easy bleeding/bruising.
You may also experience less serious side effects like trouble swallowing, swollen tongue, vomiting, nausea, diarrhea, stomach upset, swelling in rectal/genital area, vaginal discharge/itching.
